Pickles & Hats is a community for the crafty!

It’s a place to explore your passions, find new hobbies, and most of all craft your world.

We believe that a world full of creativity, support, and “just giving it a try” is a beautiful place indeed and we hope you’ll come along for the ride.

Whether you’re a new crafter or someone who’s entire house and wardrobe is DIY, we want you to join in and learn something new. We’re always working to expand our class listings, so check back frequently and let us know if there is something we are missing! We’re also constantly updating the site so if there is a feature you’d love to see (class reviews, craft “bins” of classes you’ve taken, class roulette… yes we have thought of that one) let us know!

About the crafters behind the screen!

Hi! I’m Pearl! I live in Austin, TX with my awesome husband Mike and I’m a craft addict.

My crafting is messy, imperfect and most of all 100% random and impulsive. I’ve made everything from pickled okra, mozzarella cheese, and infused bourbons to hand painted shoes, ceramics and knitted hats. It’s become a running joke now that if I ever opened my own store, it would be full of pickles and hats.

My goal is to explore the world of crafting one project, recipe and whoops at a time. Whether it’s some new recipe I’m determined to make my own or exploring different cultures through crafts that have been passed down through the generations, I’m crafting my world and I hope you’ll come along!

Hi! I’m Mike! I’m an engineer… aka: my crafts tend to be a bit more tech nerdy. I’ve developed multiple products and on the side have painted and fixed up motorcycles and built everything from websites to a text enabled siren pager dubbed “the Jonaphone”.

When Pearl was talking about building a crafting community I jumped in headfirst to get her online and moving. Like they say: “Happy Wife, Happy Life.” Plus this acted as another crafty outlet for her… you can only have so many warm knitted hats when living in Texas.
